I was overjoyed to receive a lovely letter from Jack’s new home in Yorkshire with Kath and her 11 yr old daughter Emily, along with the above photograph of him competing in Working Hunter.
It reads as follows:-
Jack thoroughly enjoyed himself doing the working hunter classes and we were thrilled with him. He came 4th in the Open and 2nd in the M & M working hunter. He seems very happy and contented and likes going to our weekend Pony Club activities. We make sure he gets a good balance of schooling, hacking and jumping.
Emily and I are so pleased that we came to the EDENWOOD STUD, we feel blessed to have such a lovely pony.
I am always very sad when one of my ponies leaves for a new home therefore when I receive a letter like the above it makes so happy to hear that they are so obviously appreciated. I have since heard that Jack and Emily have been selected to compete in the Ryburn Valley Pony Club team showjumping competitions this year. Well done Jack. The first competition is on the 26th Feb so I will keep you all posted, I am so proud of him.
Here at the EDENWOOD STUD, all the foals are now weaned and we have started halter training them and getting them used to the farrier, vet, worming and all the other routines; they are very willing and really do like to please. Dark Stranger is doing well and has kept his condition all winter. The mares that are in foal are beginning to look like ‘ladies in waiting’ and are all bright eyed and well. The youngsters, Connor, Cosmic and Willow are now hanging around the stableblock - they live out but I feel they realise spring is just around the corner and in typical connemara manner I should be ‘doing something with them’.
I have had quite a lot of interest from people thinking of using Dark Stranger this year, my first foal by him is due in May and as I have already seen some of his foals, bred by his previous owner Asier Cebeira, I know I will not be disappointed - I am so excited !!
Bye for now Clare
